It’s obvious that the anatomy of mammals differs greatly from one species to the next. Beyond these differences in structure however, the techniques and goals of veterinary illustration are the same as the medical and scientific illustration of humans. Several of the illustrations above are for the marketing of pet or livestock care products, which is an industry almost equal in size to that of the human healthcare. Pet parasites in particular is an area of great concern for both pet owners and pet care companies, thus it’s unsurprising that illustration is used to both educate pet owners and market pet products.
