Mark Miler Creations Fine Art Giclée Prints

As a medical and scientific illustrator with over 30 years experience, my appreciation for the beauty of nature is deeply felt. Having studied both human anatomy and biology, I find it fascinating how structures and patterns are often repeated throughout the natural world. For example, the branching pattern of trees, the veins of butterfly wings, flowers and leaves, the bronchioles in our lungs and the arteries and veins in our bodies are virtually the same in pattern and proportion. Beauty is in all organisms, large and small. It’s my goal to highlight and focus on the elegance in nature that can be overlooked due to size or commonness; to “zoom in” on life to expose the incredible richness in design, shape, texture and color that exists even at the smallest scale.

How I work.

To begin I create a tightly drawn pencil sketch of a real specimen which is then scanned into my Mac. Using the drawing as a template and with a Wacom digitizing tablet to simulate an airbrush, the art is painted on a blank virtual canvas. The same mental processes that one uses in traditional media is utilized in the creation of digital art. Instead of spraying or brushing oil or acrylic paint, I “spray” pixels. There is absolutely no photography involved. Reproductions of traditional media art are created by scanning or photographing the original, thus converting the natural media into pixels. As a digital artist, I skip the middle man (the scanning process) and go right to pixels. Each rendering takes 100-200 hours to create as the attention to detail is both tedious and exacting.

The Giclée prints are printed on 100% rag art paper with archival inks, and are hand signed and numbered. Each series is a limited edition of 500. A certificate of authenticity is provided. Multiple sizes are available.

The MarkMillerCreations logo WILL NOT appear on the final print.
